The company partly owned by Collingwood’s Mayor has been sold, with operations and jobs about to be moved to a plant northeast of Parry Sound.
T-D Snow and Son makes trussses for residential and industrial construction.
The company has been sold to Kent Trusses, which operates out of Sundridge.
Chris Carrier will not move with the company, but partner Tod DeCourcy will.
Carrier was an employee of TD Snow for 22 years and has been a part owner for several years.
He says with lumber prices at a 23-year low, the company is the victim of the downturn in the US housing market.
19 of 23 employees have received letters of termination, and at least one employee is moving north to work for the new owners.
The operation in Collingwood will close by the end of the month, and the building housing it will be shuttered by the end of April.
Carrier says he hopes to return to school once the plant is closed.
