The 70 year old man charged with first degree murder in the death of a Huron OPP officer has died in hospital.
Constable Vu Pham was shot and killed Monday after pulling over a pickup truck east of Goderich.
Fred Preston was shot after another officer got to the scene.
Preston had been in critical condition since then — but the province’s Special Investigations Unit — which is handling the investigation, said he died Thursday.
Relatives of Preston say he died in the evening after he was taken off life support.
Thousands of police officers are expected to attend Pham’s funeral Friday in Wingham.
