When it comes to festivals this region certainly knows how to throw a good party.
Ten local festivals and events have made this years Top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario.
They include: Hanover Sights & Sounds Festival, Port Elgin Pumpkinfest, the Holstein Rodeo, Mintos Canadian Redneck Games, the Mount Forest Fireworks, the Collingwood Elvis Festival, Sauble Beachs Shoppers Drugmart Sandfest , Blue Mountains Peak to Shore Music & Arts Festival, the Wiarton Willie Festival — and Owen Sounds Festival of Northern Lights.
With 10 percent of the Top 100 Festivals and Events winners coming from our own backyard, this region can take great pride .
Especially considering there are over two thousand festivals and events that take place each year in Ontario.
Hanover Sights and Sounds Festival Coordinator Stephanie Crilly calls the local wins very impressive, saying the recognition is great for the entire area.
She says it just goes to show that this region has a lot to offer.
Crilly says the festivals and events provide communities with an opportunity to showcase their town and attract tourism to the area.
