A man suspected in the death of Huron OPP Constable Vu Pham remains in critical condition at Victoria Hospital in London.
The province’s Special Investigations Unit says 70 year old Fred Preston of Burk’s Falls was wounded in an incident involving police on Monday in Huron East.
Constable Pham died in hospital on Monday following an exchange of gunfire with a man after pulling over a vehicle east of Goderich while investigating a domestic dispute.
OPP Sergeant Dave Rektor says many officers are in shock over the death of a man who loved his career choice and adored his family.
Pham was a 15-year OPP veteran and lived in Wingham with his wife and three boys — ages 12, 10 and seven.
Police also had to escort a London news reporter away from the grieving Pham family home in Wingham on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses say a radio reporter was canvassing the area, but was quickly escorted away by police.
Meanwhile, Turnberry Central Public School in Wingham set up counselling for students and teachers on Tuesday.
Pham’s three sons attend the school.
It appears a funeral for Vu Pham will be held on Friday although the final arrangements have yet to be announced.
