The MPP for Bruce Grey Owen Sound says it’s good to be back.
Bill Murdoch returned to the Ontario legislature Monday for the Liberal government’s throne speech after being suspended for his HST sit-in in December.
Murdoch says he has no regrets about his protest.
And the Progressive Conservative MPP read a prepared statement Tuesday and apologized to speaker Steve Peters for his actions.
Murdoch and fellow PC member Randy Hillier were allowed back in the legislature since the government started a new session with a Speech from the Throne.
Murdoch attacked the speech and called it “boring.”
In fact — he thinks the Liberals were not even excited about it because there was no cheering or standing ovation.
Murdoch doesn’t like the fact that rural and northern Ontario was only mentioned once in the 45 minute speech.
Murdoch doesn’t know why the Liberals would start talking now about attracting foreign students.
He says they should have been doing that all along — but the local MPP wonders where all the students will go since spaces at post secondary schools are scarce.
Murdoch says the mention of investing in clean water technology is a ploy by the Liberals to bring up the Walkerton tainted water tragedy.
He feels they will use the opportunity to attack the Conservatives again.
Murdoch can’t believe the Liberals are even thinking about a five year plan since over the last six years, they have increased taxes and created a 25 billion dollar deficit.
