Are you a St. Mary’s or Sacred Heart High school student looking for a challenge?
Then you may want to consider running for student trustee.
The student trustee elections are coming up in April.
Current student trustees Bridget King and Joe Cassidy call it a great opportunity to see politics at work.
Student trustees serve as a liaison between the School Board and the schools.
They provide a voice for the students at the Board table and a voice for the Board at the school level.
Student trustees attend school board meetings, travel to conferences, participate in various education related workshops and professional development days.
They also receive a 25 hundred dollar honorarium for their time.
Both King and Cassidy call it a rewarding experience that provides youth with valuable life skills.
But they both say it requires a lot of hard work, dedication and enthusiasm.
