There is interest when it comes to being able to update Pharmacy Technician skills in our own backyard.
Recently an information session was hosted by HealthKick Officials with Fanshawe College and the South Bruce Grey Health Centre.
SBGHC Vice President of Corporate Development Brenda Rantz says more than 30 pharmacy technicians from Bruce County showed up.
Rantz says that’s a good sign, as the course will only be offered if there is interest.
She says the largest issue is finding a night to hold the course – given the various shifts the technicians work.
Fanshawe College Officials will take the next few weeks to contact all who attended and if fifteen participants agree to take the course, it will be held in May.
A decision will come after all the calls have been made.
By the year 2015 – all Pharmacy Technicians have to meet new Ontario College of Pharmacists regulations.
Rantz says this gives them a chance to meet those guidelines locally.
