Meaford residents are being invited to comment on the need for a review of the municipality’s Official Plan.
Director of Planning Rob Armstrong says a public meeting will be held tonight at 7 PM in the council chambers on the 7th Line.
Armstrong says the current Official Plan was approved in 2005 and the Planning Act of Ontario requires that a review is considered every five years.
Armstrong believes it’s safe to say that a review is needed.
He says things have changed over the last five years and it’s important to make sure the Official Plan is updated to reflect those changes.
Armstrong says staff have come up with a list of items that should be included in the review, including Meaford’s new Economic Development Strategy and new provincial initiatives about healthy communities.
Staff will present those items but the public is also invited to share their ideas of what should be considered during the review.
Armstrong says it’s important for the public to attend this meeting and be involved in the process because the Official Plan guides the growth of the municipality.
