Like the RCMP, Grey County have got their man.
The County has found a replacement for retiring Chief Administrative Officer Garry Wood, who leaves that position at the end of March.
Warden Arlene Wright says they have hired Lance Thurston to be the new CAO, who most recently was the Commissioner of Community Services for the City of Kingston.
She says Thurston takes over as CAO effective Monday March 22nd.
Wright says she believes he will be a great fit with the County as he brings 27 years of municipal experience with him to, including 19 years at the senior executive level.
She says what impressed her and rest of the Council committee was Mr. Thurstons extensive knowledge of rural matters.
Wright says having grown up on a farm, Thurston told them of his deep appreciation of the unique issues facing small towns and rural communities which he says it an important part of the job of CAO at the County level.
Thurston and his wife already have visited the area and are impressed with all of the outdoor activities that are available including hiking and access to Georgian bay.
Wright says the whole family is looking forward to becoming a part of the Grey County Community.
