The Owen Sound Billy Bishop Home and Museum was involved in a special unveiling of the 50 million dollar new passenger terminal at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport this morning.
That is the new home or Porter Airlines.
The terminal officially opens to the public on March 7th.
Today’s ceremony also included a tribute to Billy Bishop, Canada’s World War One flying ace.
Billy’s son Arthur and other family members were in attendance, and a display of memorabilia, such as Bishop’s vintage war uniform and his original medal collection, including the Victoria Cross, the Commonwealth’s highest military honour.
These items were displayed with co-operation of Billy Bishop Home and Museum in Owen Sound, and Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.
A permanent exhibit at the airport will be in place later this year for passengers to learn more about this Canadian hero.
