The Hanover and District Hospital has some shopping to do.
The Hospital is purchasing 1.15 million dollars worth of new equipment.
A large chunk of that money will be spent on the Diagnostic Imaging Department with the purchase of 669 thousand dollar digital mammography equipment.
The rest will be shared among the I-T, Lab, Physio, Day Hospital, Operating Room and Nursing Units.
Some of the purchases include a central monitor telemetry system upgrade, new O-R equipment, a new mobile whirlpool and 150 thousand dollars in I-T upgrades.
Vice President of Finance and Corporate Services Marnie Ferguson says the new purchases will be a smart investment in the Hospital.
She says the new equipment will help keep the small hospital current with today’s health needs.
Ferguson notes a well equipped hospital serves as a great incentive in attracting new doctors to town.
The Hospital is also undertaking 88 thousand dollars in engineering and building upgrades.
This includes the replacement of all the ground floor windows, some bathroom renovations and a new hot water system.
