The Bruce Grey Catholic School Board will soon have its own Reading Specialist.
The board has received a 15 thousand scholarship to send one of its teachers back to school.
Superintendent of Education Catherine Montreuil says this teacher will take a years Masters Study Level and than return as the Board’s new Reading Specialist.
It will then be her job to assist and train other teachers with reading recovery and reading instruction within the school system.
Montreuil says this is new for the Catholic Board.
Up until now the School Board has always had to contract reading specialists teachers in from other school boards.
She says this will strengthen the reading program across the entire school board.
As the future reading specialist for the Board — Sacred Heart elementary teacher Carrie Gilder will be splitting her time between her Mildmay classroom and her Masters Level Study program.
