It looks like the Hanover and District Hospital is going to end the 2009 -2010 fiscal year on a high note.
Officials are projecting a surplus by the Hospital’s year end on March 31st.
The Hospital is currently sitting with 294 thousand dollar surplus.
This represents 2 percent of the hospitals 16.4 million dollar budget.
Vice President of Finance and Corporate Services Marnie Ferguson says its never easy to find a surplus in health care.
But she notes the Hanover and District Hospital has managed to do this for seven years in a row.
She credits sound management, proactive initiatives, and the Hospital’s continued quest to find savings and operational efficiencies for the surplus.
Meanwhile salaries and wages are under budget by 113 thousand dollars while benefits are over budget by 82 thousand dollars.
Medical and surgical supplies are over budget by 23 thousand dollars, while plant operations is under budget by 44 thousand dollars.
