Former Federal Health Minister and Liberal MP Doctor Carolyn Bennett will be in Owen Sound on Thursday to take part in a special meeting dealing with women’s rural issues.
The meeting is being organized by local Liberal Candidate Kimberley Love who says the day long event will concentrate on such issues as poverty, health care and the special challenges facing rural women.
Love says this is going to be a non partisan forum and will feature several other speakers including the Women’s President of the National Farmers Union Joan Brady who will talk about rural policy development.
She says there also will be another session on women, families and poverty which will be led by United Way Executive Director Francesca Dobbyn
Love says one of the key sessions will be led by Dr. Bennett here self dealing with rural health care and what can be done to try and address some of the concerns of rural women.
The all day long session begins at 9 AM at Stone Tree Golf and Fitness facility, with the public sessions starting at 1 PM.
Love says following the event there will be an opportunity for people to meet and talk to Doctor Bennett in a less formal setting.
