It’s a brand new location for Owen Sound’s Around the Sound market.
As we told you back in November — the local produce market was moving from its downtown location to a residential neighbourhood near the Alliance Church.
Operator Anne Finlay Stewart says they needed more room to expand their line of local products but also to install a community kitchen which she hopes to have up and running in a few months.
She says reaction from the neighbours has been extremely positive to Owen Sound’s first neighbourhood grocery store in more than 30 years.
The market boasts close to 80 local producers providing everything from meat and cheese to fresh produce when its in season.
Finlay Stewart says on their third day of operation at the new location..they surpassed their best day downtown by 20 per cent.
Around the Sound is open from Thursday to Saturday each week
But she hopes to expand those hours once the kitchen is up and running with cooking classes and other programs.
