Smile, you may have been on candid camera this past summer.
That is when the Google Street View van was cruising through Grey Bruce and Simcoe Counties, taking pictures of just about every street in every major community in the area.
All you need is a computer and access to the Internet to check out local communities.
About a half dozen local towns are now on Google Maps Street view including Owen Sound, Saugeen Shores, Hanover, Collingwood and Wasaga Beach.
Street view — in case you don’t know — allows you to zoom in on a satellite photo of your community, then drag the little yellow person icon to the street of your choice and you then get a panoramic view of that street.
This will give you a 360 degree street level view of homes and businesses.
As part of Googles agreement with Canadian Privacy officials any faces captured on Street view have been blurred so they can not be identified.
