Hanover is increasing its Parks and Recreation Facility rental rates.
The majority of the rate increases sit at 2.5 percent with some going as high as 4.6 percent.
Councillor Rick Hopkins calls it the price of doing business.
Hopkins says it’s a delicate balancing act between public affordability and expenditure recovery — and he feels the increases are fair.
As a regional centre — Hopkins says Hanover’s rates compare reasonably well to area communities.
The new rate increases will impact swimming pool and camping rental rates as well as the rental of the Family Centre and the future Multi Purpose Room in the new Regional Recreation Complex.
It will also impact all user groups such as minor hockey, minor ball and minor soccer.
But Hopkins notes user groups are still subsidized 28 percent by the town.
The new prices come into effect immediately with the exception of rentals in mid season.
