Get ready to shell out a bit more money if you spend summers at the Municipal Tourist Camps in Port Elgin or Southampton.
Saugeen Shores council approved a fee increase for 2010 at their February 8th council meeting.
Director of Community Services Mike Myatt says a seasonal trailer permit will now cost $1922.00.
Thats up 40 dollars from the $1882.00 fee charged in 2009.
Myatt says they’re trying to keep up with costs of operating the camps, with 310 sites in Port Elgin and 140 in Southampton.
He says the permits help cover things like hydro, heating, washroom maintenance, grass cutting, staffing, and the front office.
Myatt says the new fee is about middle range when compared with other campgrounds in the region like those in Sauble Beach.
Myatt says council also took into account an 8 per cent rise in the minimum wage when considering the fees.
He says that increase also played into a fee hike this year at the Port Elgin Harbour.
A seasonal permit there will now run you 46 dollars per foot up from $44.50.
Myatt says council also thought that increase was appropriate following over 100 thousand dollars worth of repairs at the harbour in 2009.
