The fourth quarter of 2009 was one of the strongest on record for house sales in the Grey Bruce area.
The average price for a home sold in December was 211 thousand dollars, which is up 11 per cent from a year ago.
108 homes were sold in the last month of the year, up 86 per cent from December 2008.
The New President of the Realtors Association of Grey Bruce Owen Sound is Karen Cox.
She says the total value of homes sold in the year was double the level of 2008, at nearly 31 million dollars.
Cox says a lot of people are getting into the housing market while interest rates remain low.
She says the year started off slow — but sales continued to gain momentum during the summer and then soared in the last quarter of 2009.
