Two exiled Progressive Conservatives may soon find their way back into the Ontario legislature.
Randy Hillier and Bill Murdoch were both kicked out of the chamber two months ago for their sit-in over the harmonized sales tax.
They were supposed to be out for the rest of the legislative session, but they could return to their seats as soon as February 16th if they can get the blessing of Speaker Steve Peters.
Bill Murdoch says Peters told the two at the conclusion of the protest, they could return if they apologized.
Murdoch tells Bayshore Broadcasting News, they did apologize as their HST demo ended, but the house wasn’t sitting so it didn’t count.
Murdoch says he’ll meet with Peters and apologize if the house returns later this month, however he says the McGuinty government may decide to prorogue the legislature.
That would allow new cabinet ministers more time to prepare, and for the government to put together a new Throne speech and budget.
However, Murdoch says McGuinty may be gun-shy about proroguing the legislature because of the reaction the Federal Tories have received.
