It’s life in prison for a young Dundalk man.
Derek Gauvin pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Owen Sound court on Wednesday for the death of 79 year old Leonard Perrault.
Gauvin was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 10 years.
Court heard Perrault was found in a pool of blood on the floor of his apartment in Dundalk on November 11th, 2008 — four days after the attack.
Gauvin — who was 18 at the time and a student at Grey Highlands Secondary in Flesherton — was arrested the next day.
An autopsy concluded the victim died of blunt force trauma to his head.
Court also heard Gauvin had been drinking with his friends earlier in the day and still has given no reason for the attack.
