A break for Saugeen Shores councillor calculators for a while.
They spent the whole day crunching numbers Wednesday as they try to work on the 2010 budget.
Councillor Diane Huber says there is no number they are aiming for at this point, but as we’ve reported before, there will be a tax increase.
She says they spent Wednesday hearing requests, about what happened in 2009 in the various departments, and about what could impact 2010.
Huber says the bottom line is so much of the budget covers wages and benefits so opportunties and flexibility are limited.
She also says they are dealing with many unknowns including how the merging of the GST and PST will affect the municipality.
The next round of talks is February 17th.
The budget will be presented to council March 8th.
