The answer to the big question of this year and any year is approaching.
It will be Groundhog Day tomorrow.
And for the 54th year in a row, Wiarton Willie — the famous albino groundhog — will make an appearance to predict either six more weeks of winter or an early spring.
Wiarton Willie Festival spokesperson Shane Sargant says unlike other years, the prognostication will kick off a full week of games, activities, music and food in Wiarton.
Previously some activities preceded Groundhog Day.
Sargant says there is something for everyone from February 1st to the 7th.
On Tuesday, Sargant says Wiarton Willie has requested that there be a free pancake breakfast and for the first 15 hundred people to arrive at the new location for Groundhog Day — Bluewater Park.
As a surprise to organizers, Bayshore Broadcasting News had the Saugeen Hawks Cheerleading Team, made up of 20 or so members, come up with a Wiarton Willie cheer.
Sargant and Mayor Gilbert enjoyed the cheer so much, the group has been invited to help kick off festivities tomorrow.
By the way, Wiarton Willie will make his fearless prediction at 8:07 AM Tuesday.
If Willie sees his shadow you can count on six more weeks of winter.
If there’s no shadow then it’s an early Spring.
Tracing back since 1955 — the “early spring” predictions outnumber the “more winter” predictions.
