She’s known since May but as the time approaches she’s getting more excited.
Saugeen Shores police constable Susan Hatt is on her way to Vancouver today as part of the 15 thousand security force set up for the Olympics.
Hatt says she’s stationed at the Pacific Coliseum where figure skating and short track speed skating events are taking place.
She says her job is to search all the vehicles that will be entering the premises.
Hatt says she’ll get some time off but the work schedule is a heavy one.
She says she works two 12-hour days, then two 12-hour nights and then has two days off.
She hopes to be able to take in some of the figure skating events which have always been a favourite of hers.
Constable Susan Hatt is the only officer going to the Olympics from Saugeen Shores.
Hatt was chosen after her name was drawn out of — wait for it — a hat!
Four Owen Sound Police officers will also be a part of the Olympic security team in Vancouver.
On the list are Sergeant Mark Kielb as well as Constables Steve Beaney, Craig Matheson and Pat Rawn.
Constables Michael Boyko and Ian Sanderson from the Hanover Police Service will also be members of the Olympic force.
