A former Mayor of Port Elgin has been sentenced in connection with a fraud case.
63 year old Brian Cleaver was given 12 months house arrest after he entered a plea in Walkerton court to defrauding Bruce Power out of nearly 55 thousand dollars between 2001 and 2006.
Cleaver was a former Manager of Employee Safety and Manager of Waste Management with Bruce Power.
After his retirement in October of 2006, some purchases were called into question.
A forensic auditing firm found 87 transactions that were inconsistent with company purchases.
Along with 12 months house arrest, Cleaver was sentenced to 180 hours of community service work and the judge added a 500 dollar victim fine surcharge.
