It’s a chance to check out and comment on changes to Owen Sound proposed new zoning by law.
There is an open house at Owen Sound City Hall this afternoon from 1 PM until 4 PM to allow people to check out the second draft of the new zoning by law.
Councillor Deb Haswell says this is a good opportunity for city residents to find out about the zoning that exists around their own property and what is proposed for other parts of the city as well.
She says this draft by law is less cumbersome than the existing one with fewer zones and easy to compare regulations.
Haswell says it’s important for people know about they new by law as it could impact on whether you want to build a new shed, house or business
She says this is the first time the by law has been updated since 1985 and it has been changed to reflect the way land will be used in the city for the next few decades.
Haswell says these open houses are very informal and city staff and the planning consultants will be on hand to answer any questions you have about your property and how the zoning by law may impact you.
She says these are very informal meetings with lots of maps to show people the proposed changes to the cities zoning areas.
