Georgian Bluffs officials are pleasantly surprised by the 2009 building stats.
Chief Building Official Bill Klingenberg says they issued 229 permits including 36 new homes for a total value just under 17 million dollars.
The figures are almost identical to those of 2008 — with 215 permits issued including 38 new homes worth just under 17 million dollars.
Klingenberg says with the downturn in the economy last year…they weren’t expecting to have the same number of homes built as the year before.
And he says they’re expecting things to pick up even more in 2010 with higher end homes being built at Cobble Beach and elsewhere around the township.
Kingenburg says the developers just north of Owen Sound have plans to build multi residential units this year.
Building at Cobble Beach ground to a halt last year during the economic downturn.
