The Hanover and District Hospital has some important new life saving equipment for newborns thanks the generosity of the public.
The Hospital Foundation has just wrapped up its 65 thousand dollar newborn equipment campaign.
Foundation Co-ordinator Sue Patterson says the new purchases include an infant security system as well as specialized equipment that will help with the early diagnosis and treatment of jaundice.
This specialized equipment includes a bilimeter, bili light, bili blankets and accessories as well as a pediatrics crib and stretcher.
This is the first time the Foundation has ever taken on a fundraising project for the Hospital’s Birthing Centre.
No word yet on what project the Foundation will take on next.
Over the past few years the Hospital Foundation has raised money to purchase a new ultra sound machine, operating room equipment. a nurse call system, electric beds and two palliative care units.
Patterson says the Foundation couldn’t have done any of this without such a caring community.
