Another death has been linked to the c-difficile outbreak at the Hanover and District Hospital.
The elderly patient is the 5th of 10 patients who contracted the super bug to die.
Vice President of Patient Care Services Reta Sproule says c-difficile was not the direct cause of the death — but it was a contributing factor.
Because C-difficile is a super bug, Sproule says it is more difficult to manage.
Sproule says hospital staff are working diligently to contain the virus by cleaning around the hospital.
Staff and Public Health are meeting each day to review the situation and strategize on the best way to contain the situation.
To date there is still one patient with C. difficle in the hospital there are no other suspected cases at this time.
The hospitals must go 30 days with no new cases before it can be declared c-difficile free.
There was one case in November, five cases reported in December and four so far in January.
