Five people will be honoured today for their contribution to Wasaga Beach.
The Order of Wasaga will be handed out at the Mayor’s New Year’s levee at the Rec Plex at 2 PM.
But a reception starts at 1 PM and goes until 3 PM.
The awards this year go to Rose Dunglenson, Ray Mickevicius, Beverley Wood, Peg Moreside and Reg Jalbert.
Rose Dunglenson tells us she was nominated by a lady at her church for her volunteer work at the church, but also with Meals on Wheels and the Wasaga Beach Archives.
Beverley Wood, who owns the restaurant Beverley’s On Main, says she was nominated by the mayor for her work with area veterans.
Wood holds veteran’s lunches at her restaurant and is also involved with www.thememoryproject.com where area vets tell their stories and share their pictures.
