It seems to be scam and fraud season.
Several have been reported in the last few days and the latest comes from South Bruce OPP.
Police say a resident from the Paisley area, received a phone call from someone offering a device from Hydro One that plugs into a receptacle to measure energy usage.
The idea is this could help the homeowner save money.
The device was free but a 100 dollar deposit was required.
Hydro One has confirm they have no such involvement in this type of scheme.
South Bruce OPP remind you that an offer that sounds too good to be true likely is.
Be extra careful with a limited time offer that requires you to act immediately or winning a contest that you didnt enter in the first place.
