There’s been yet another call for a “third party” study of the health effects of wind turbines.
Spokesperson for the Society for Wind Vigilance — Doctor Robert McMurtry — released its analysis of the American and Canadian Wind Energy Association sponsored report on the health effects.
That report, released late last year says there are no discernable health effects caused by wind turbines.
The report indicates that some residents who live near the turbines may be annoyed by the structures but they could find no ill health symptons.
McMurtry says the controversy calls for a third party investigation of the effects and he calls on the government to order such a report.
He says he has spent over 25 hundred hours poring over studies from around the world and he did one thing, the CANWEA report did not apparently do.
He says he has talked to everyday residents who live near the turbines and documented their stories and he finds the word “annoyance” is hardly the term to use when describing the health problems of these people.
He says the defining reality is that these people are genuinely suffering and yet can’t get governments to listen to them.
McMurtry says a definitive third-party study needs to be done on the safety of wind turbines.
Based on his research he says he believes turbines should be at least two kilometers from any home.
Doctor McMurtry is a former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario and a former assistant Deputy Minister of Health Canada.
He has addressed Queen’s Park regarding wind turbines and has written a review on the CANWEA/AWEA paper on Wind Turbine Sound and Health Effects.
