A former Owen Sound doctor is improving in a Toronto hospital after a crash in Florida.
74 year old retired Doctor George Kuruvilla is in serious condition at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto — but he is off a ventilator and breathing on his own.
Doctor Kuruvilla was injured in a three vehicle crash north of Tampa Bay last month and was moved to Toronto to be closer to his family.
His wife — 72 year old Elizabeth Kuruvilla — was killed in the crash and her funeral was held in Georgetown on the weekend.
The Kuruvilla’s had just recently retired to Florida.
Doctor Kuruvilla was well loved locally after spending years as an internal medicine specialist at the Owen Sound hospital.
Their two sons — Philip and John — are also doctors in the Greater Toronto Area.
