2010 could be a great tourism year for Bruce County.
County tourism manager Chris Hughes says tourism last year was flat compared to the year before and that’s despite the wet weather we had last summer.
He says many areas in Ontario and across the country have seen their tourism dollars shrink but in Bruce and Grey counties the impact was much the same as it has been for the past several years.
Hughes says the area — particularly Georgian Bay — has received national media attention–being voted the number one hidden travel gem across Canada.
He says visits to that region will have a natural spill-over effect into the Bruce/Lake Huron region as well.
Hughes says this region is what’s hot as a place to visit in the summer.
Hughes says he’s confident that 2010 will be a good year for tourism not only for Bruce County but beyond as well.
