Do you have a love for reading and children? If so the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board has a job for you.
The Bruce Grey Catholic Board is inviting the community into the schools.
The Board is looking for volunteers who can donate an hour or two a week to become a reading buddy with a younger student struggling with literacy.
Superintendent of Education Catherine Montreuil says studies prove that a little extra assistance in reading will go a very long way in helping a child become a successful student.
She says this volunteer opportunity may be ideal for seniors who have the time to make that extra bit of difference in a young person’s life.
Montreuil also encourages parents to really engage their children in their homework.
She says in this day of two parent jobs and busy schedules many children are falling through the cracks when it comes to homework and reading.
Anyone interested in becoming a reading buddy should call their local school principal.
