Hospitals are supposed to be healthy places, and Hanover’s is one of them.
The facility has received the Healthy Hospital Award from the Ontario Hospital Association.
It recognizes the hospital’s commitment to being a healthy workplace and being a role model for other healthy workplaces in the community.
The Hanover Hospital was commended for their efforts to make a safe and healthy workplace a priority and for including management, staff, doctors, and the board in the whole process.
A number of innovations have taken place to encourage a healthy workplace at the hospital.
They include a Fit Trail, e-learning programs, and green initiatives.
Along with receiving the award, the Hanover Hospital has also received level one certification in the NQI Health Workplace Progressive Excellence Program.
That program is part of the four step process linked to the Canada Awards for Excellence Program — the nation’s top award for healthy workplaces.
