West Grey is offering help to merchants who want to spruce up their storefronts.
The Business Beautification program allows some businesses in Durham, Neustadt and Ayton to receive funding to pay for anything from landscaping to signs to paint.
Business along certain roads are eligible of up to 50 per cent to a maximum of 500 dollars each.
West Grey Clerk and CAO Christine Robinson is heading up the project.
She says the interest in the program is already keen with several businesses picking up applications and calling about the funding.
Robinson says there are three people that will be looking over applications and decide who will get the money from the town’s strategic plan and budget.
10-thousand dollars has been set aside in total for the program.
Robinson says the application is very streamlined and easy for business owners to fill out.
Some of the topics that must be addressed are the colours being used — the text on any signage and the total cost estimate of the project.
Robinson hopes the improvements will lead to more people shopping locally.
Applications and more information can be picked up at the West Grey Municipal Office.
