Work will continue this year on the Grey-Bruce County Line, but the planned reconstruction of the intersection at Scone will likely not take place.
Bruce County has told Grey County its preference for this year is to instead begin putting the top coat of asphalt on the rebuilt road and delay the Scone work until 2011.
Grey County’s transportation and public safety committee has directed staff to determine their next move.
That decision, made at a committee meeting on December 17, was ratified on Tuesday by county council.
While work at the south end of the road may well have to wait, the Twin Counties are looking for a show of support from the provincial government in terms of work to be done at the north end, at Alvanley.
The counties want the intersection with Highway 21 to be rebuilt, perhaps with a roundabout.
They’ll make a joint request at next month’s Ontario Good Roads Association conference in Toronto.
Grey County Councillor Alan Barfoot — chair of the transportation and public safety committee — says Grey and Bruce are seeking a commitment from the Ministry of Transportation that the work will be done in the near future.
