The Liberal MPP for Huron-Bruce says the McGuinty government is all too aware of the fall 2011 election drawing closer and that now is not the time to rock the political boat.
Carol Mitchell says 2010 in many ways will be a year of staying the course set in the year just ended.
Mitchell says education and health spending will continue this year with an eye to strengthening rural communities in Huron-Bruce.
Mitchell says the HST will become a fact of life this summer.
She says the 13 per-cent tax is a model of co-operation between her government and Ottawa, which committed 4.3-billion dollars to help set up the new taxation regime.
Mitchell says the Harmonized tax will work despite negative comments in the past year.
Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch and his Tory colleague Randy Hillier staged a sleep-in at the Legislature in the fall to protest the HST bill.
Mitchell says putting people to work will continue to be a hallmark of co-operation between the McGuinty and Harper governments.
Mitchell says the two levels of government will carry on with funding to restore existing infrastructure and build new roads, bridges, and water and sewer systems in 2010.
Mitchell says such spending this past year has made a noticeable difference to communities across Huron-Bruce.
