The Chair of the Bluewater District School Board is confident the public board is headed in the right direction and she’s encouraged about its make-up after the next municipal election.
Jennifer Yenssen tells Bayshore Broadcasting News she will not be running in the next election.
She had made that promise to herself after she was elected again, three years ago.
Yenssen says she has been thrilled with the renewed interest parents and ratepayers have taken in the operation of the board of education.
She says she’s talked to many who have indicated they are going to let their names stand in the next municipal election and she feels there will be a good slate of candidates next fall.
Yenssen says the board is evolving like any large organization and it was time for a critical look at the board, which happened this year.
Now, she says, it’s time to follow through on that evolution.
As Yenssen’s term comes to an end, she urges parents to have patience with the board as it changes policies for the good.
She says the board is moving in the right direction and more changes are down the road.
