It’s a once in a lifetime experience — and Brockton Mayor Charlie Bagnato doesn’t want anyone to miss it.
At 2:45 PM today — the Olympic Torch will arrive in Walkerton.
In anticipation of the Olympic Torch’s arrival there is a full day of activities planned.
This includes dog sledding and speed skating demonstrations, free public skating, hockey games, snow sculpture contests, snowshoeing and cross country skiing, musical entertainment as well as fireworks this evening.
But the highlight of the day will be at the Heritage Water Garden where the Olympic flame will arrive at 2:45 PM.
Just prior to the torch’s arrival there will be an opening ceremonies celebration in which local Olympians Doctor Jane Moran, Allison Bradley, Karlo Kasop and Harvey Potts will be speaking.
The Grey Bruce Singers will also be on hand to serenade the flame.
Bagnato expects at least five thousand people to line Walkerton’s streets to welcome the Olympic flame.
The activities run all day long and include a roast beef dinner, a family bon fire behind the arena tonight and fireworks at 8:30 PM at the Ball Diamonds.
