When it comes to changing the board structure for the South Bruce-Grey Health Centre — the message from the agency’s CEO remains the same.
The Friends of Kincardine Hospital are hiring a consultant to review how that community’s hospital functions.
The Mayors of Kincardine and Huron Kinloss also plan to meet with the 21 member board to talk about making changes to have municipal representation.
CEO Paul Davies says the hospital corporation serves many municipalities, and any changes would have to involve them.
Plus Davies says they have to get advice on “best practices” from the Ministry of Health and the Ontario Hospital Association.
Davies restates his earlier message that municipal councillors are allowed to sit on the hospital board — but not by virtue of their role as elected officials.
Board Chair Dan Gieruszak is also a Brockton Councillor.
Davies says it’s up to the board — not him — to decide if changes in representation should be made.
