The amount of money Bruce County gets from the province for children’s services has been adjusted for this year.
Director of Social Services Terry Sanderson says the province has given them a new allocation of 380 thousand dollars.
He says they unfortunately usually find out about these increases when the business year is more than half over.
Sanderson says receiving the news later in the year doesn’t make the budgeting process easy.
The funding is part of the province’s Best Start program, and will be used to purchase new equipment and supplies for the County’s Home Child Care Program.
Sanderson wants the money to supplement needs like paper, crayons, books, and expansion of the child toy library.
The funding will also be used to purchase resources that will be needed when the province’s Pascal Report is implemented.
That’s the report recommending a major expansion of early childhood learning in Ontario.
