West Grey is prepared in the event of another blackout or emergency.
Council has purchased a mobile generator for the municipality.
West Grey paid just under 11 thousand dollars for the generator as the federal government covered the remaining 19 thousand dollar cost under the Joint Emergency Preparedness Planning (JEPP) funding.
Fire Chief Phil Schwartz says it is a single to 3 phase 100 kilowatt generator that can go from 120 to 600 volts.
He says it is part of their emergency plan and they can move the generator from one facility to another for back up power.
Schwartz says they can use the generator in the event of a winter emergency and they need to power up an arena for residents to go to for warmth.
He says it can also be used to supply power to water wells to pump water.
