A special Christmas message for Kincardine Council. The Community Theatre Guild performed a singing telegram at this week’s Council meeting.
That’s how it began, a hilarious two and a half minutes of the municipal year in review, set to the tune of Silver Bells.
The singers covered everything from the doctor shortage, medical clinic renovations, financing for the beach pavilion, and the feud over what brand of beer to serve at last summer’s Tiverton Old Boys Reunion.
The singing telegram was Deputy Mayor Laura Haight’s idea.
She won it in a silent auction at the legion back in the spring.
Haight says it’s Christmas and thought it would be fun way to wish council and residents the best of the season.
However, the Deputy Mayor did not know what the exact lyrics were going to be when she told the theatre guild to use the telegram as a Christmas greeting.
Bonnie Bryan of the Theatre Guild says she looked up some of the more interesting media reports of council during the past year and picked out the highlights she could set to verse.
