A Port Elgin native will help lead GM’s international business.
Ray Young has stepped down as the automaker’s chief financial officer to become vice-president of international operations starting in February, 2010.
It’s a newly created role which will have him oversee the international operations finance division in addition to other responsibilities.
Young has served as G-M’s chief financial officer since March 2008.
His family immigrated from China – and he was born in Port Elgin.
Young graduated from the University of Western Ontario and then got an MBA from the University of Chicago.
He turned down many offers from many high power investment banks and took an entry level financial analyst job with GM in 1986.
Within two years Young was promoted and transferred to GM’s financial headquarters in New York.
