It could spell the end of the Owen Sound Celtic Festival.
The Celtic Society Board is in trouble saying only one person turned up at their recent annual general meeting.
Outgoing board member Jamie Smith says the majority of the board members have been with the Society and organizing the Celtic Festival since it began nine years ago — and they’re ready for a break.
Smith says if they don’t have at least 5 people step forward by the end of December — it could mean the end of the Celtic Society and the annual festival.
He says it is a shame when the festival is finally doing well financially — it’s the board that’s falling apart.
The Celtic Festival was moved from downtown Owen Sound to Grey Roots two years ago and actually made money this past September.
Smith says they usually have to beg, borrow or steal to get the event off the ground but this time..they have a few dollars in the coffers.
If anyone is interested in joining the Celtic Society board they must contact the office by December 31st by calling 372-3332 or email to oscelticfestival@gmail.com
