A man from Grand Bend has been found guilty of unlawfully shooting a bear.
The case was heard in Owen Sound Court November 30th and involved Steven Jennison’s incident dating back to November 4th of last year.
Court heard Owen Sound conservation officers investigated reports that a black bear had been shot in the area of Crane Lake Road on the Bruce Peninsula.
While Jennison did report the incident – he claimed he shot the bear fearing his life while hunting.
Court however, concluded Jennison’s life was not in danger and did not justify the shooting.
Jennison has been fined 365 dollars.
