An American doctor is interested in practising in Kincardine.
Doctor John Engle — who currently works in Hawaii — is checking out the community with his wife.
The Ohio native graduated from the Ohio State University Medical School in 1980 and says at this stage in his career and with changes taking place in health care, he feels he can best take care of patients from a location like Kincardine without being hampered in the process.
Doctor Engle says changes taking place in American health care do not fit his style of practising medicine.
As for qualifying to work in Canada, Doctor Engle says he will have to go through registration with the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons.
However, he says they have recently reached an agreement with the Canadian College of Family Physicians to accept American credentials.
Doctor Engle says he recently recredential with American authorities and that means his qualifications will be accepted if he decides to move to Kincardine.
Doctor Engle notes that even with winter weather, he’s enjoying finding out about what Kincardine has to offer.
