Kincardine is ready for any emergency situation that comes its way.
The municipality is in full compliance with the expectations of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and Emergency Management Ontario’s checklist of 15 requirements.
The municipality was on full target in 2009 for training for both conventional and nuclear emergencies.
Mayor Larry Kraemer says when laws requiring municipalities to comply were first introduced, Kincardine already met the grade because it’s home to a large nuclear facility.
He says Kincardine is one of the few municipalities of its size that has an emergency operations centre set up and ready to go with telephones should the need arise.
